[Flow-tools] flow-merge ?

lo, 

having read the man page for this a couple months ago, it seemed to read as if this would merge multiple flows back into one file in real time.  Is anyone using this that could assist in answering the real use of this tool.  We are  setup where some of our sites come in on one route and exit on another.  so we have to run more than one query to get both sides of the needed data and then merge those results into one report to get what we are looking for.
